Saygak — Digital Queue Management for Border Crossings

Saygak — Digital Queue Management for Border Crossings

About the Project

Saygak is a mobile application designed to streamline the process of crossing borders in Kyrgyzstan by digitizing the vehicle queue system. Drivers can register, add their vehicle, pay the queue fee, and reserve their spot at the checkpoint — all without leaving the app. The platform significantly reduces time wasted in physical queues and brings transparency, structure, and efficiency to an otherwise chaotic process.

The product is built with a user-first mindset, prioritizing clarity, fast interaction, and error-free document handling. From registration to queue confirmation, the experience is crafted to be fast, understandable, and mobile-friendly.

Problem Statement

Border crossings in Kyrgyzstan often suffer from long wait times, disorganized queues, and a lack of clear information. Drivers were forced to wait for hours or even days with no structured way to track their turn. Miscommunication, document issues, and queue manipulation further complicated the process, causing frustration and delays for thousands of users.

There was a strong need for a system that would digitize vehicle registration and queue management while offering full transparency and speed.

Solution

The solution was to create a comprehensive mobile platform that allows users to fully manage the border-crossing process digitally. The user downloads the app, registers by providing personal and driver’s license details, adds their vehicle by uploading the registration certificate, and takes photos of the vehicle from all sides for verification. All steps are supported by clear, multilingual forms and visual cues.

Once verified, users can join the virtual queue by making a prepaid payment of 1000 Kyrgyz Som. The app then assigns a queue number, provides the current wait time, and generates a unique QR code for identification at the checkpoint. A countdown timer ensures that the driver arrives at the gate within 20 minutes after joining the queue.

If a user leaves the queue, they are warned that the payment is non-refundable and the slot is lost. This discourages misuse while maintaining fairness. All essential information is accessible through a clean, structured dashboard showing the status of cars, queue position, and personal profile data.

Visual and UX Design

The visual identity of the app is simple, structured, and highly utilitarian. It uses neutral tones and readable fonts to make navigation easy under various lighting conditions — critical for drivers often using the app in outdoor or low-visibility environments.

The forms are clean, multi-step, and mobile-optimized. Large tap areas, intuitive buttons, and clear feedback messages help reduce user error. Prompts like “Make sure the document is not blurry” are built into the photo upload experience to ensure all required documents meet quality standards.

The app supports both Russian and Kyrgyz users, making it accessible to a broad audience. All flows are designed to reduce friction and provide instant feedback where possible

Result

Saygak transformed the vehicle border-crossing experience in Kyrgyzstan by making it predictable, fair, and digital-first. Drivers no longer need to wait blindly or deal with opaque systems — they can now track everything in real time from their smartphone.
